Aug 1 Saturday

Left 11ish for Lassen Volcanic National Park, though we planned on leaving by 9. But someone had to go to the BR, or last minute packing for addtional stuff, etc.Arrived 6ish. Got annual national park pass for $80. That’s good till end of August next year, so good for another 3-week camping trip in Aug. next year.

No mosquitoes met us but we were welcomed by yellow jackets! Had to move to next campsite after pitching tent.Had adobo & whole wheat couscous for dinner.

Zach swished his toothbrush in my cup of wine at bedtime , thinkin it was his cup of water for toothbrushing. Haaaaay! I laughed so hard!

Warm night which made for comfy sleepin. Rainstorm in the middle of the night. But we were dry inside the tent till the kids had to go to the BR! The neighboring grp. campground had an annual American Indian Ancestral ceremonial gathering & Indians were playin with their drums & doing their chants all night long. It was a distant sound so wasn’t annoying. Kids were wide awake at 3 a.m. fascinated by the thunder, lightning and drumbeatings.

Campsite fee: $12
