Below are songs I cannot live without. You know, the ones I  can listen to over and over again, and never get tired of. These are the songs on my ipod or on my playlists.  These are the songs of yesteryear  intertwined with those from present favorites. You might recognize some of them as your favorites – the songs that make you laugh, cry, think of someone, reminisce the good old times, remind you of a special moment or maybe a funny incident. Or maybe just because you like the melody.  Sometimes it’s because it’s so silly.  Some have pathetic lyrics but you still like it.. Whatever it is, it’s music for the heart and soul.

I noticed that many of my favorites have such sad lyrics. Lyrics beautifully set to music we’ve fallen in love with.  Many favorite songs have been inspired by  broken hearts,  composed at the lowest points in the composer’s life. Apparently, pain is  a catalyst for brilliantly penned music.  I find myself singing these songs not for their lyrics but for their melody, wishing though that the words weren’t so depressing.

I split it into three categories: slow , fast, and Christian. So here goes….
